Data in this chapter reflect the basic condition of industrial
sector including main industrial economic indicators of 31
provinces,
autonomous regions and municipalities.
(1) The number of industrial enterpris es, and the gross
industrial output value of all state-owned industrial enterprises
and the non-s tate enterprises that are above des ignated size;
(2) Main economic indicators and efficiency indicators of
all s tate-owned indus trial enterprises, and of non-state enterprises
above designated s ize classified by type of registration,
light and heavy indus tries , s ize of the enterprises , branch of
industrial enterpris es and regions. Those indicators include gross
industrial output value, industrial value-added, total capital
hold,
total as sets, total liabilities, working capital (circulating assets),
fixed as sets, liquid liabilities, long-term liabilities,
creditors equity,
sales income, sales cost, s ales tax and extra-charges, sales
profit, total profits, value-added tax payable,
ratio of value-added
to gross industrial output value, ratio of profits, taxes and interests
to average assets, ratio of debts to
assets, ratio of profits to
cost and charges, turnover of working capital and overall labour
productivity, s ales ratio of industrial
products;
(3) Main economic indicators and efficiency indicators of
the state-owned indus trial enterprises and enterprises where the
state holds the majority of shares, class ified by region and by
branch of industry;
(4) Major indicators of foreign-funded industrial enterprises
and enterprises funded by entrepreneurs from Hong Kong, Macao
and Taiwan classified by region and by branch of indus try;
(5) Major indicators of large and medium scale industrial
enterprises by region and by branch of industry;
(6) Output of key industrial products;
(7) Production capacity of main products by key indus trial
enterprises;
(8) Proportion of economic indicators by branch of industry
in national total;
(9) Economic efficiency indicators of industrial enterprises
by main status of registration
II. Statistical Scope
The scope of industrial statistics includes all industrial enterprises
within the territory (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and
Taiwan). Before 1997, the scope of industrial statistics based on
types of ownership, they were mainly the following s ix parts:
indus trial enterprises at and above county level with independent
accounting system and production units without
independent
accounting sys tem, village industrial enterprise, urban joint
industrial enterprises , rural joint indus trial enterpris
e, urban individual
industrial enterprises , and rural industrial enterpris es
(village industrial enterprises were not included in
this part before
1984).
Since 1998, the scope of indus trial statistics shifted from
types of ownership to s ize of enterprises, they are: all stateowned
industrial enterpris es and thos e non-state industrial enterprises
with annual sales over 5 million yuan, and non-state
industrial enterprises with annual sales below 5 million yuan.
Data in this chapter cover all state-owned industrial enterpris
es and those non-state-owned industrial enterpris es with
annual
sales over 5 million yuan. The shortened form is all stateowned
industrial enterpris es and the non-state enterprises that
are above des ignated size.
III. Source of Data and Survey Methodology
The industrial enterprises s tatistics in this chapter are collected
from Annual Report of Industrial Statis tics, which are
provided by statistical bureaus of all provinces , autonomous
regions and municipalities through Comprehensive Reports to
NBS. Statistical agencies at various levels arrange and collect data
through comprehens ive reporting sys tem on the bas is of
real
situation in local areas.
The Production Capacity of Major Industrial Products includes
42 main industrial products. Sources of data are mainly
from departments concerned, industrial associations and corporations,
which are main enterprises within the sector.
