The President of the Lebanese Republic, Whereas the Lebanese Constitution, Whereas tile Merchant Shipping Law, notably articles 6 and 381, On the proposal of the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Public Works, Decrees the following:

Article 1: In case it is impossible for shipowners wishing to register their vessels in a Lebanese port to produce official evidence of the tonnage of their vessel, the harbour masters at the port of registry are authorised to evaluate tonnage in conformity with the provisions of the present decree.
Article 2 The shipowner administers proof of tonnage by producing a certificate emanating either from one of the classification companies duly approved in Lebanon, or from a Lebanese or foreign authority with which tile vessel had been previously registered.
Article 3 Any person who estimates the tonnage of a vessel or takes stock of her capacity, is entitled to an indemnity amounting to : 1 - For boats from 0 to 5 tons net LL.15 2 - For motor launches and lighters LL.25 3 - For sailing ships (simple masters)and engine-powered vessels LL.40 4 - For steamers LL. 100 If the vessel has been refitted in any manner requiring a new estimate, her owner is required to pay, for the latter, 25% of the above schedule.
Article 4 If alterations have been made inside the vessel's hulk or in her quarters below deck, or if her engines have been replaced by new engines, the person in whose name the vessel is registered is required to make a declaration of same to the harbour-master of the port of call before putting out to sea. Any contravention to the what is prescribed in the present article is liable to the prosecutions provided for under article 770 of the Penal Code.
Article 5 All the officials of the Central Maritime Service are empowered to draft reports regarding any breach to the requirements of the Shipping Law.
Article 6 Regarding the tonnage of vessels The present decree shall be notified and published wherever there shall be need.
