The examination on the appraisal of foreign investment property as planned and organized by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ) has been interrupted due to the breaking out of SARS. In order to ensure the smooth development of the appraisal of foreign investment property, the GAQSIQ has hereby decided, after deliberation, to extend uniformly to May 31, 2003 the period of validity of qualifications for the appraisal of foreign investment property, which were granted by the former State Administration of Commodity Inspection on February 9, 1998, and July 17, 1998, and State Administration for Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine on May 31, 1999. For the name lists of persons who are permitted to have the period of validity of qualifications extended, please refer for details to the Circular on Publicizing the Third Batch of Name Lists of Persons who have obtained Qualification Certificates for the Appraisal of Foreign Investment Property (No. 29 [1998] of the State Administration of Commodity Inspection), Circular on Publicizing the Fourth Batch of Name Lists of Persons who have obtained Qualification Certificates for the Appraisal of Foreign Investment Property (No. 38 [1998] of the State Administration of Commodity Inspection), and Circular on Granting Xu Wenjiu and Other 168 Persons to Change Qualification Certificates for the Appraisal of Foreign Investment Property (No. 95 [1999] of the State Administration for Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine).

The bureaus of quality supervision, inspection and quarantine directly under the GAQSIQ shall request the persons, who have been granted the extended period of validity of appraisal qualifications, to carefully study the most updated regulations on value appraisal, strictly implement the relevant provisions, standards and rules, so as to ensure the quality of the work.
