NOTICE OF THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE CONCERNING THE TAXATION ON ENDANGERED WILD FAUNA AND FLORA AND THEIR PRODUCTS RETURNED BY FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS (REGIONS) AND HONG KONG AND MACAO SPECIAL ADMINISTRATIVE REGIONS

Upon approval by the State Council, since January 1, 2002, the import customs duty and import-link value-added tax shall be exempted from the endangered wild fauna and flora and their products which are returned by foreign governments (regions) as well as the governments of Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions and are accepted by the State Office for Import and Export of Endangered Species (shortened as the State Office for Endangered Species) and listed in the appendix to the "Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora" upon the provision of "Proof on Endangered Wild Fauna and Flora and Their Products Returned by Foreign Governments as well as the Governments of Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions" (see Annex) issued by the State Office for Endangered Species. The endangered wild fauna and flora and their products imported upon exemption of customs duty and value-added tax shall, in principle, be delivered to the Institute of Zoology and Institute of Botany, China Academy of Sciences for appropriate arrangement, so as to ensure the protection of wild fauna and flora and their uses for public benefit purposes.
