DECREE NO 14303 OF 13 DECEMBER 1956
 
The President ofthe Lebanese Republic, Whereas the Lebanese Constitution,
Whereas articles 94 and 10 I of the Merchant Shipping Law,
Whereas Decree N¡ã 8663 of 27 March 1947,
Whereas the proposal of the Minister of Public Works and the Minister of Transport.
And following the approval ofthe Council of Ministers, Decrees the following:
     
     
SUBJECT : Fixing the official rate per ton

Article 1
The official rate per ton (of registered capacity) of vessels is fixed as under:
I - Mercantile vessels and power-driven made of steel or iron
A - Passengers ships and passengers cum cargo vessels (for the transport of passengers and merchandise)
For vessels of gross tonnage equal or under 2,500 tons (registered ton burden) LL. 900
per ton burden
For vessels of gross tonnage varying between 2,501 and 5,000 tons (registered ton burden) LL. 850
per ton burden
For vessels of gross tonnage varying between 5,001 and 10,000 tons (registered ton burden) LL. 800
per ton burden
For vessels of gross tonnage of over 10,000 tons (registered ton burden) LL 750 per Ion burden

B - Ordinary cargo vessels with refrigeration holds.
- For vessels of gross tonnage LL. 850
equal or under 1,500 tons per ton burden (registered ton burden)
- For vessels of gross tonnage LL. 800 varying between 1,501 and per ton burden 5,000 tons (registered ton
burden)
- For vessels of gross tonnage LL. 750
of over 5,000 tons (registered per ton burden ton burden)

C - Ordinary Cargo Vessels.
- For vessels of gross tonnage equal or under 2,500 tons (registered ton burden) LL.750 per ton burden - For vessels of gross tonnage varying between 2,501 and 5,000 tons (registered ton burden) LL. 700 per ton burden
- For vessels of gross tonnage varying between 5,001 and 10,000 tons (registered between burden) LL.675 per ton burden
- For vessels of gross tonnage of over 10,000 tons (registered Ion burden) LL.650 per ton burden

2 - Sailing-ships made of wood

A - Wood sailing-ships equipped with engine:
- For a vessel of gross tonnage equal or under 200 tons (registered ton burden) LL. 700 per ton burden
- For a vessel of gross tonnage varying between 201 and 500 tons (registered ton burden) LL.650 per ton burden For a vessel of gross tonnage of over 500 tons (registered ton burden) LL. 600 per ton burden

B - Sailing ships without engines and port lighters and barges:
- For a vessel or barge of a net tonnage equal to or under 50 tons (registered ton burden) LL.650 per ton burden
- For a vessel or barge of nel tonnage varying between 51 and 200 tons (registered ton burden)LL.600 per ton burden
- For vessel or barge of a net tonnage of over 200 tons (registered ton burden) LL.550 per ton burden

Article 2
1 - Five per cent for each of the first years of the vessel's life shall be deducted from the value of merchant vessels and steel or iron vessels. This shall apply in case the vessel has not been rejuvenated or that major modifications or repairs have not been carried out on her.
2 - Ten per cent for each year of the vessel's life shall be deducted from the value of sailing-ships made of wood

Article 3
Decree N¡ã 8663 of27 March 1947 is abrogated.

Article 4

The present decree shall be published and notified wherever there shall be need.
