	Adding a paragraph to Article 49 of the Constitution

The Chamber of Deputies has adopted,
The President of the Republic promulgates the law worded as follows:

Article 1
A paragraph worded as follows shall be added to

Article 49 of the Constitution:
"Once only and exceptionally, the term of office of the present President of the Republic is extended for three years ending on 23 November 1998".

Article 2
The present constitutional law shall come into force upon its publication in the Official Gazette.
