ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE NATIONAL JUDICIAL EXAMINATION OFFICE OF THE MINISTRY OF JUSTICE

According to the Measures for the Implementation of National Judicial Examination (for Trial Implementation), Some Provisions on Hong Kong and Macao Residents' Taking the National Judicial Examination (Order No. 94 of the Ministry of Justice) and the Announcement of the Ministry of Justice of the People's Republic of China (No.55), we hereby announce the specific matters on Hong Kong and Macao residents' signing up for the National Judicial Examination of 2006 as follows:

I. TIME AND PLACE OF EXAMINATION

Hong Kong and Macao residents may sign up for the National Judicial Examination of 2006 in Hong Kong and Macao from July 5 to 20, 2006.

Qualified Hong Kong or Macao applicant shall, within the above-mentioned time limit, sign up for the examination in person at Hong Kong or Macao National Judicial Examination Registration Office.

The Hong Kong National Judicial Examination Registration Office is established inside the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority at Building 3, No. 17, Tseuk Luk Street, San Po Kong, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It will accept the examination registration applications during 8:30- 17:00 from Monday to Friday as well as 9:00 -12:00 every Saturday.

The Macao National Judicial Examination Registration Office is established inside the Macao Department of Justice at Public Administration Building 19, Rua do Campo, no. 162, Edif. Administração P¨²blica, Macao. It will accept the examination registration applications between 9:00 and17:30 from Monday to Friday as well as 9:00-12:00 every Saturday.

II. APPLICATION MATERIALS

A Hong Kong or Macao resident shall provide the following materials when signing up for the examination:

(1) an application form for the National Judicial Examination of 2006 (Hong Kong and Macao) in duplicate:

An applicant can download and print an application form from the website of the Ministry of Justice or the examination registration office, faithfully and accurately fill in the application form and sign the personal commitments as required, and then submit the application form for verification when he signs up for the examination. He or she may also directly obtain an application form on the spot when he signs up for the examination, then fill in it and affix his name, and submit the application form for verification.

(2) the identity card and a photocopy thereof as notarized:

1. When signing up for the examination, a Hong Kong or Macao permanent resident meeting the conditions for examination registration shall provide his Hong Kong or Macao permanent resident identity card, his passport issued by Hong Kong or Macao Special Administrative Region, and his pass for Hong Kong or Macao resident entering or exiting the mainland (pass for Hong Kong or Macao compatriots revisiting their homeland);

2. When signing up for the examination, a Hong Kong or Macao non-permanent resident who meets the conditions for signing up for the examination shall provide his Hong Kong or Macao resident identity card, and his pass for Hong Kong or Macao resident entering or exiting the mainland (pass for Hong Kong or Macao compatriots revisiting their homeland).

If he can not provide the passport issued by Hong Kong or Macao Special Administrative Region, or the pass for Hong Kong or Macao resident entering or exiting the mainland (pass for Hong Kong or Macao compatriots revisiting their homeland), he shall submit the relevant certificate on not giving up the Chinese nationality as issued by the Hong Kong or Macao identity certification organ (a Hong Kong resident may also submit a statutory declaration of not applying for giving up the Chinese nationality as issued according to the Regulation on Oaths and Declarations, Chapter XI of the Ordinances of Hong Kong);

3. If a Hong Kong or Macao resident who has ever signed up for the National Judicial Examination and the photocopy of his same valid identity card or identity certificate has been notarized by Hong Kong or Macao notaries public, the photocopy of his valid identity card or identity certificate may be exempt from notarization. When signing up for the examination, he shall submit a notarized photocopy of his same valid identity card or identity certificate, and also make written commitments that the contents of his identity certificate have not changed.

When signing up for the examination, the original of the above-mentioned identity certificate shall be immediately returned after on-site verification finishes, and the photocopy thereof as notarized shall be kept at the examination registration office for reference;

(3) the academic diploma (degree), the diploma (degree) accreditation certificate as issued by the Overseas Study Service Center of the Ministry of Education, and a photocopy thereof:

If any Hong Kong or Macao applicant has completed his studies but has not obtained his diploma yet due to the educational system, he can apply for the academic accreditation to the Overseas Study Service Center of the Ministry of Education upon the strength of the graduation certificate issued by his college. When signing up for the examination, he may submit the graduation certificate issued by his college and the accreditation certificate, and make relevant commitments.

The original of the above-mentioned certificates shall be immediately returned upon on-site verification, and the photocopy thereof shall be kept at the examination registration office for reference;

(4) 3 recent 1-inch hatless photos developed from an identical negative;

(5) The registration fees shall be determined by the examination registration office in the specific measures for examination registration.

The materials for examination registration shall be true and complete, and shall be verified by the examination registration office before it accepts the examination registration applications.

III. PLACE OF EXAMINATION

Those who sign up for the examinations in Hong Kong shall sit for the examination at the examination rooms in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Those who sign up for the examinations in Macao shall sit for the examination at the examination rooms in Macao Special Administrative Region.

IV. EXAMINATION PREPARATIONS

After the examination registration office accepts the examination registration applications, if the applications meet the conditions upon re-verification, the examination registration office shall issue admission tickets for the National Judicial Examination of 2006. The time, arrangements and place of examination shall be indicated on the admission tickets.

When sending out admission tickets, the examination registration office shall provide the rules for examination rooms and other relevant materials to the applicants, and the applicants shall carefully read and be familiar with the aforesaid materials.

The Outline of the National Judicial Examination of 2006 and the reference books for the examination may be bought at bookstores or be subscribed online. The online subscription may be conducted by inquiring about the website of the publishing houses: www.lawpress.com.cn or http£º//www.cuplpress.com. Hong Kong students may also purchase the books from China Legal Service (Hong Kong) Company Limited, its contact phone is (852)-28279700 and its address is Office B, 26th Floor, United Centre, No. 95, Queensway, Hong Kong.

V. DIPLOMA (DEGREE) ACCREDITATION

The Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Diploma (Degree) Accreditation Office of the Overseas Study Service Center of the Ministry of Education will entrust China Legal Service (Hong Kong) Company Limited and China Legal Service (Macao) Company Limited for the uniform acceptance of diploma accreditation applications of Hong Kong and Macao from June 12 to 16. The diploma accreditation application materials shall be directly forwarded by China Legal Service (Hong Kong) Company Limited and China Legal Service (Macao) Company Limited to the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Diploma (Degree) Accreditation Office of the Overseas Study Service Center of the Ministry of Education for accreditation. If anyone fails to forward his diploma accreditation application materials within the time limit for centralized acceptance, he can log on the website of Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange of the Ministry of Education to know the method for applying for the diploma accreditation.
